COMPONENT 1: GoBlue Growth
The Go Blue Project-Component 1 stems from a partnership between the EU and the Kenyan Government to promote the Blue Economy Agenda by developing coastal regions. The project seeks to unlock land-sea potential for inclusive, sustainable growth and job creation in coastal urban centers. The project comprises three pillars, each focusing on enhancing the local economy in Kenya’s JKP counties: Pillar 1 supports the fishery and cassava value chains, benefiting Beach Management Units and farmers; Pillar 2, led by GIZ, fosters sustainable blue economy value chains through skill development, aquaculture growth, and MSME support; and Pillar 3 aims to stimulate economic growth and employment by promoting the tourism and cultural heritage sectors.

Go Blue |AICS Strengthened inclusive and sustainable blue economy value chains in the JKP counties. The component is aimed at enhancing the fishery and the cassava value chains, by working with 9 Beach Management Units (BMUs) and cassava farmers which represent two driving sectors for the local economy, as well as to support the strengthening the JKP Secretariat.

Go Blue | Camões: The Tourism and Culture Heritage Component is aimed at supporting the achievement of the Go Blue Kenya project’s strategic objective of enhancing sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth with job creation and employment impact in Kenya’s JKP counties.
