Kisauni VTC Graduates 513 Students in Blue Economy Courses
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, Kisauni Vocation Training Centre (VTC) celebrated its 8th graduation ceremony. Out of the 813 graduates, 513 completed blue economy-related courses, namely Maritime Plumbing, Maritime Tourism & Hospitality, and Maritime Security. 60% secured job placements after their industrial attachments, and 25% transitioned to entrepreneurship.
These courses were offered through the Go Blue project, a partnership between the EU, the Government of Kenya, and Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani, aimed at advancing the blue economy agenda through coastal development.

Kisauni VTC’s Go Blue Project courses related to the Blue Economy (Maritime Plumbing, Maritime Tourism & Hospitality, and Maritime Security)
The courses aim to equip youth and women in the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani region with practical skills and knowledge relevant to the blue economy sectors, such as aquaculture, maritime transport, maritime security, and hospitality. This includes technical skills specific to these sectors, as well as transferable skills like work readiness, soft skills, entrepreneurship, and ICT and HSE skills, enhancing their employability and readiness for the workforce.
